My Times are in Your Hand

Psalm 31:14-15a

“But I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in Your hand.” (ESV). The HCSB version says of vs15a, “The course of my life is in Your power.”

David makes a resolute pronouncement! First his trust, then, “You are my God.” Notice the period? No embellishment. Just resolute….You are my God, and as you can infer, “The only True God.” Then watch him acknowledge God’s sovereignty with acquiescent tone…”My times are in Your hand.”

This has been on my heart for a couple of weeks now. How easily do I rest in the sovereign providence of God? How about you? Since the true Christian is in process of being conform to the image of Christ (Rom 8:28-29), how does that transformation come about. I am convinced, as we rest in His providence daily, even moment by moment, He brings opportunities our way to either respond in the Spirit or in the flesh. He gets the glory with each response by our submission to the Holy Spirit, and by this our spiritual muscles are strengthened. In our failures by walking in the flesh, He gives grace to repent, an forgiveness to heal. Either way He gets the glory, and because all is for our good to conform us to the image of Christ, there is no need to fear. As David said, “My times are in Your hand.”

All love in Christ,
